Brethren,Gene R. Deisz receiving his 50-year award from WM Matt Kapustianyk

We were glad to see so many brethren in attendance last Tuesday, July 14th, as the Worshipful Master presented Brother Gene Deisz with his 50-year pin and certificate. It is hard to believe that man is old enough to be a Master Mason for 50 years. The man in the dark jacket looks young, too! (just kidding Matt - you look young) "It goes by fast," said Brother Gene. "My father, Alf, was a 50-some year Mason [52 years]... and now here I am...." Congratulations to you, Brother Gene! Thank you for sharing this time with us and for bringing your lovely wife Margaret and daughter June.

DeKalb Lodge 144 will be conferring a 2nd degree at its first stated meeting in August, on Tuesday the 11th, 2015. Please come for a fellowship dinner at 6:00pm and stay for the degree at 7:00pm. The candidate will be examined at the Altar at the stated meeting on Tuesday July 28th, so don't miss that either!

The DeKalb Chapter of the Widow's Sons - the Masonic Motorcycle Association - headed by President Dean Clark, will be hosting a ride on Saturday August 1st in DeKalb. Registration will start at 12:00pm at the Masonic Temple at Fairview and S. 4th Streets, with Kick Stands Up at 1:30pm. The party starts at O'Leary's at 5pm, with live music by Hit Man Rock Band and food provided by O'Leary's. This is open to everybody, not just motorcycle riders. You can register to ride on your bike or in your car for $20 ($10 for passenger), or just show up for the party for $10. We hope to see you there. Remember, all proceeds go to benefit Masonic widows, orphans, childrens' homes, and nursing homes on behalf of DeKalb Masonic Lodge and the Knights of Tyre. If you have anything to donate to our auction, please contact Dean Clark or Rich Spahn. Other donations can be made there, or through Dean Clark. See his facebook page!

DeKalb Lodge will host the next Standard Club on Wednesday September 16th at 7pm-9pm. We just missed bringing home the traveling gavel trophy last time by a decision. I'm sure we can set a record for the most brethren from one lodge at a Standard Club if we try!
